ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, non-governmental, international organization that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems. ISO certifies that a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure has all the requirements for standardization and quality assurance. ISO standards are in place to ensure repeatability.
In other words, ISO audits the internal processes of a company to make sure that their standards are high and consistent. If all criteria are met after guiding an inspector through the inner workings of their company, then the company may advertise the fact that they are ISO Certified. ISO has several certifications and standards that companies can apply for. Each certification has separate standards and criteria and is classified numerically. The ISO certification we now hold at Custom Fabricating & Supplies is ISO 9001:2015.
A company that is ISO 9001 certified:
- Has a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business;
- Monitors processes to ensure they are effective;
- Keeps adequate records;
- Checks output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary;
- Regularly reviews individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness; and
- Facilitates continual improvement.
A company with ISO 9001 certification has shown that their production and service processes run smoothly and constantly improves on processes already in place. As a customer, this certification provides peace of mind that the company is not only consistently reliable in their production process but also are actively striving to create a better experience for you.
While most people don’t know what ISO certification specifically entails, it provides a basic knowledge that they are a company with high standards. Customers can take comfort in knowing that any company displaying an ISO 9001 certificate on their list of accomplishments is a company that believes in customer satisfaction and is constantly seeking to better themselves.
